Coding Classes for Kids

Most kids start learning coding using Scratch, a platform created by MIT. We offer two Scratch classes tailored for different age groups: Scratch Ninja (Grades 2–5) and Accelerated Scratch (Grades 5–8). Students in 8th grade or higher might also consider starting with Python; while more challenging for absolute beginners, it is highly rewarding for determined learners.

That is a great question! It is important to choose the right class to keep students engaged and challenged so they continue to learn while having fun. There are several ways to find the perfect fit. The easiest is to use our class selection tool—simply enter your child's age, experience level, and interests to see our personalized recommendations. You can also browse classes by subject area, such as Coding, AI, or Robotics. Finally, you can explore the specific age group pages to see the different levels and learning pathways available for the particular age group.

We provide structured learning pathways tailored to each student's interests and goals. For example, parents interested in Artificial Intelligence for kids can explore our list of AI courses ranging from broad introductions to highly specialized advanced classes for kids. You can also browse classes by age group—Grades K–2, Grades 2–4, or Grades 4–6, Grades 6-9, and Grades 9-12—to find engaging topics for kids with diverse interests. Our teachers have all gone through a rigorous interview process, and less than 5% of applicants are hired. They typically fall into one of three groups:

• Professional Teachers who often teach in school during the day and teach with us after school and during summer break.
• Highly qualified college students who major in Computer Science
• Professional software engineers

As a project-based program, students build projects throughout most courses while mastering key coding, AI, and other concepts and developing problem-solving skills.
