Research shows that around age 12, both boys and girls have a similar level of interest in computer science. This difference is that women are half as likely to be encouraged to explore it. Tell your female students and children that you think they'd be great at computer science. Encourage a growth mindset—emphasizing that skills improve with practice—to help your girls persevere when faced with challenges and builds confidence in their abilities.

Promote Positive Role Models and Mentorship

Highlight stories of female tech pioneers such as Ada Lovelace, Grace Hopper, and contemporary female engineers. This can be as simple as hanging their photos and images about them around your classroom or house. Also consider offering access to female mentors or role models who work in computer science and can inspire girls and provide guidance.
