Class Access and Zoom Help

What do I need for a free introduction class?

All of our classes are held over Zoom, so we always recommend downloading Zoom and getting familiar with the app prior to class.
You can download Zoom here: https://zoom.us/

Check your class confirmation email to find out any other software you need to set up ahead of time.
Our teachers will guide the students through everything else!

(Tip: Move the email into your “Primary” inbox folder to ensure you see all your future class emails.)

Where can I find my schedule and the Zoom link to join my class?

You can find class schedules and Zoom links on your account page anytime.

Just select the class, and you will see the information.

Even though we send reminder emails, please always try to use the Zoom link found in your account just to be safe — this minimizes the risk of Zoom issues.

I didn't receive my class confirmation email. What should I do?

Sometimes our emails end up in the spam/junk folder.

If you haven't received a confirmation email, search for messages from createandlearn.us.

If you still can't find it, visit your account page to find class information like the schedule, Zoom link, and classroom.

I can't get into my Zoom meeting, what should I do?

There are many reasons Zoom might not work properly. Here are some troubleshooting tips:

  1. Make sure your Zoom app is downloaded and that pop-ups are enabled.
If using a browser, also ensure pop-ups are allowed.
  2. Double-check that you have the correct Zoom ID and password.
You can find this on your account: https://www.create-learn.us/account
  3. If you're getting a “Waiting for Meeting to Start” or “Meeting in Progress” message even after class has started, restart the Zoom app.

If you're able to join but audio or video doesn't work, join from your phone as well so your child can participate.

I might miss a class due to travel or conflict, do you offer make-up classes?

Yes! If you anticipate missing a class, visit your account page and try to reschedule to another session as soon as possible.

We often have multiple sessions of the same course running at the same time, so you're likely to find an alternative.

If no times work or you need additional help, email support@createandlearn.us.

Note: If you're in a private class, contact our support team at least 48 hours in advance to move your session and avoid a teacher reservation charge.

How are class times shown in my time zone?

On our website, class times are displayed based on your browser time zone setting. In emails, class times are formatted using the time zone saved in your Create and Learn account. You can confirm or update your preferred time zone anytime at https://www.create-learn.us/account/settings. If you are unsure about a specific class time, please check your account page or contact support@createandlearn.us before class.

Are homework, class materials, recordings, or certificates available?

Availability depends on the course and class format. Teachers may share homework, project links, or class materials when they are part of the course. If you need materials from a missed class or did not receive a completion certificate, email support@createandlearn.us with the student name and class.

General Information

What does a Create & Learn class look like?

We offer live, online classes designed to make learning coding fun, engaging, and effective for students in grades K-12. Each class is conducted in a small group setting with at most 3–5 students, ensuring personalized attention.

Classes are led by experienced, US-based instructors who have undergone a rigorous selection process. We employ an inquiry-based and project-based teaching approach, encouraging students to actively participate, ask questions, and engage in discussions.

What subjects do you offer?

The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including coding languages like Scratch, Python, and Java, as well as subjects such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and game development.

You can browse different subjects here: https://www.create-learn.us/
Or check out our overall curriculum by age groups: https://www.create-learn.us/computer-science-curriculum-for-kids

How long does it take to finish a course?

The duration of our courses varies depending on the subject and format. Regular classes typically meet once a week, with each session lasting between 60 to 75 minutes. Courses typically include multiple parts/levels that add up to about 8–16 sessions total, so it takes about 1–4 months to finish a course. Specific details about the duration and structure of each course can be found in the individual course descriptions.

During summer, we offer more immersive camps that meet daily for 60 to 75 minutes over 4 to 5 days per week. Each camp covers one part or level per week, allowing students to progress through multiple levels in a shorter time frame.

What age groups do you teach?

We offer a wide range of live, online coding and STEM classes tailored for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The curriculum is designed to engage various age groups with age-appropriate content and teaching methods.

Grade-Level Groupings:

  • Grades K–2: Young learners are introduced to foundational concepts through interactive and engaging activities.
  • Grades 2–4: Students begin exploring basic coding and STEM topics, fostering curiosity and problem-solving skills.
  • Grades 4–6: Learners delve deeper into coding languages and STEM subjects, working on more complex projects.
  • Grades 6–9: Middle school students tackle advanced topics, preparing them for high school-level courses.
  • Grades 9–12: High school students engage in specialized courses that can support college preparation and career exploration.

For more detailed information on specific classes and their corresponding age groups, visit the age group pages linked above.

Who are the teachers?

Our classes are led by experienced, US-based instructors who have undergone a rigorous selection process. Our teachers receive specialized training in both classroom management and technical expertise. Many instructors for younger students are current or retired certified teachers from schools, ensuring a strong educational foundation. For more advanced classes, we feature instructors who are college graduates with degrees in relevant fields.

Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed by tech experts and seasoned educators from prestigious institutions such as Apple, Intel, Google, Harvard, MIT, and Code.org.

How much does a class cost?

Most classes are small group classes of 3–5 students, and pricing varies by number of sessions and class size. We strive to have as many students learn computer science as possible and offer very competitive pricing, especially considering the small class size. For detailed pricing, visit the specific course page on the Create & Learn website.

Our free introductory classes have no cost and are designed to introduce students to a subject. We also run larger free events with special speakers or themed topics: https://www.create-learn.us/kidsevents

Can I sign up for private classes?

Yes, we offer private 1:1 and private group classes. Private 1:1 can be booked on the course page directly. For private group classes, email us at support@createandlearn.us. We will set it up for you.

Do you work with schools?

Absolutely. We work with schools and charter schools in a variety of formats to support computer science classes for students in grades k-12.

If your child attend Charter School, we can partner with your school to apply your school funding to your classes.

We also work with schools directly to offer classes as afterschool programs or during regular school hours.

Learn more on our School page and contact us at partner@createandlearn.us for additional information.

How do I know which class or level is right for my child?

Start with your child’s grade, prior coding experience, and interests. Course pages list recommended grades and prerequisites. If your child has taken coding before or is choosing between levels, email support@createandlearn.us with their age, prior classes, and goals. We can recommend a starting point or next course.

What software or device does my child need before class?

Requirements vary by course. Please check the course page and your class confirmation email before the first session. Many beginner classes use free browser-based tools, but some courses require installed software or a specific device. For example, Roblox Studio requires a computer and does not work on Chromebook or mobile devices. If you are unsure, contact support before class.
