Minecraft Modding Quest

Solve puzzles, build, and create games with fun coding in Minecraft

Enjoy fun Minecraft modding online classes

Does your child enjoy playing Minecraft? Minecraft: Education Edition is built on top of the regular Minecraft game and includes additional features to teach kids coding and other STEM skills. It promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment, where the only limit is imagination.

In these carefully designed Minecraft modding classes, we cover a broad set of coding concepts. We start by introducing kids to the very basic concepts of stacking commands together to make computers accomplish tasks - the fundamentals of coding. Kids will control agents to solve puzzles while interacting with different in-game characters. We will then move on to learn core coding concepts such as loop, operations, conditional, events, function, variables, and more. As students get more comfortable with these coding skills, they will also start building more complex structures as well as mini-games through coding. With our inquiry-based approach in our fun online modding courses, your kids will have plenty of opportunities to not only learn but also create!

Beginner Minecraft Modding Intro: Code to Save Village

  • Grades 3-5
  • Does your child love playing Minecraft? This awesome 1-hour free intro class will introduce your child to Minecraft Education and how to code using it. We will show how to setup Minecraft Education first and then get everyone started on a self-guided tutorial that teaches basics of block coding and some key concepts. The tutorial let your child code a series of steps to prevent the spread of fire, save a village, and bring life back into a cool forest with the help of artificial intelligence. This is a great intro class to try before moving up to Minecraft Coding Quest which will go a lot deeper into different coding skills. We will get the tutorial started. It is a long tutorial and most of students will not be able to finish it, which is fine. The goal of the class is to introduce students to the most basic coding concepts. This free intro class is not a small group class. Minecraft Coding Quest Unit 1-3 are small group classes with no more than 5 students.

  • Minecraft Modding Quest - Unit 1
Let the fun begin! We start from the very basics of the coding concepts in this fun-filled class. Students solve puzzles by coding an agent in the Minecraft game to move, take actions, and react to the environment. They are also given the opportunity to build open ended puzzles on their own. We will cover core coding concepts including sequence, conditional, loop, and more. All the puzzles and projects are designed by our curriculum experts exclusively for Create & Learn.
  • Minecraft Modding Quest - Unit 2
Students start to spend more time building open ended projects in level 2 which allow them to expand and be creative even more easily. We also advance to teach intermediate coding concepts such as variables, event, and function. Using Minecraft as the platform, students can code to place and break blocks, build structure, spawn animals, develop mini-games, and a lot more. They will feel empowered. Not only can they play Minecraft, they can create their own favorite games as well!
  • Minecraft Modding Quest - Unit 3
Build your own battle game that fights off zombies and see who is better at the rock, paper, scissors game built by yourself in Minecraft This is the last of the series of coding classes based on Minecraft Education edition. We will practice and learn more about how to use variables and functions to make our code a lot more efficient and reusable by building two fun games. The game logic and components are also more complex. Code and have fun building your projects!
