- Part 1 - Modern Website Design With Wix 1
We will start with the fundamentals of web design and core features of WIX. Some examples are:
The general flow of creating a website with WIX so you can get a site build quickly
How to use and customize templates to make the design better
Edit and customize images and other key design components of the sites
General website structure and navigation to design website with multiple pages
Add more complex components to the site such as maps
Allow site visitors to submit information to site owners
and a lot more
Students will build 3 websites to highlight topics they feel passionate about.
- Part 2 - Modern Website Design with Wix 2
In part 2, we will cover how to build more powerful websites and also make them look more appealing. You will learn topics such as:
Create web pages that are private, so only people you allow can access.
How to choose colors and other design elements of your site to make the site more attractive
How to design a clear overall flow of a website so the site is easy for users to browse.
Enable payment, which can be used fundraising/donation, buying tickets to events, or simply to sell products.
Combined with previous learning, students will build several websites that will prepare them to make professional websites that are suitable for many small businesses and community organizations. We will also touch on key areas that are more important for building large-scale websites that may run on different devices, for different audiences, and more!
There is no required prerequisite, though students with some prior coding background e.g. Scratch Ninja (grades 2-5) or Accelerated Scratch (grades 6-10), and some design experience, e.g. Canva for Kids: Design & Video Creation and Discovering Design classes, will likely get more from the class.
