We start from the very basics of Scratch, so no prior coding experience is needed. Students will learn core coding concepts such as sequences, loops, and conditional. We will also cover a wide range of Scratch specific capabilities to make things move, sense, and groove! Every session, we'll create something amazing – animations that sparkle, games that challenge, and stories that unfold on screen.If your child is already familiar with basic loops, conditional, sensing, motion, events, and clone concepts in Scratch, they may skip Part 1 and start from Part 2.

This unit combines learnings from the previous 2 units to empower students to build more sophisticated electronics systems. We will create 3 projects from end-to-end: Home Automations, Light Show, and Smart Cars, from circuit creation to coding. We will also up our coding level, moving away from block-based coding to using text-based coding. This allows us to create more sophisticated logic for the system and readies students for the Python type of text-based programming. Join to create and have fun!

In this class, we will start with the introduction to data science and the purpose and features of the Pandas library. Then we move on to learn about techniques of data cleaning, data processing, and data analytics. (New summer 2023) We have incorporated ChatGPT AI throughout the class to teach students how to use ChatGPT as an effective way to develop higher quality code, explore beyond what classes can teach, and a lot more. In the capstone project, we will practice and apply all the knowledge and techniques to students' own dataset. Students will also explore data visualization using basic graphs and charts in Pandas and the best practices. Finally, students will complete the analytics, visualization, and presentation of their own final capstone projects. With effective use of ChatGPT, students can create more advanced capstone projects as well.

Unit 3 covers two key areas - ChatGPT and Computer Vision for medical imaging. We will first introduce students to ChatGPT, its underlying technologies, and then cover how to code ChatGPT to create your own Specialty ChatBot. The remaining classes will focus on two different projects that apply learnings on Computer Vision from the previous units to the real world problem of diagnosis based on medical imaging. In particular, we first model chest X-ray images using Fastai for CNN (pneumonia vs. normal vs. covid). We then model chest X-ray images by building CNN from scratch.

In this free Python coding class, students will take their first dive into coding with Python. We will transition from block coding, which they learned in Scratch, to text-based coding. Students will learn how to animate and draw with Python, and will build their own story project to create a cool animation.
