Quantum Physics for Kids

Quantum Physics for Kids

Learn foundational quantum physics concepts by exploring amazing inventions and scientific discoveries!

Our classes are designed to get kids excited about quantum physics and its impact on our lives. Quantum physics is the foundation of modern technology: electricity, solar energy, batteries, wifi, computers. Kids are naturally curious about these modern tools. An understanding of quantum physics opens doorways to STEM fields such as quantum computing, electrical engineering, biotechnology, astrophysics, material science and other growing industries.

Our courses incorporate a wide variety of engaging activities, including hands-on physical demos, cartoon visuals, educational presentations, drawing activities, guided discussions and humorous quizzes. Our expert  teachers keep students engaged and excited to learn. Course curriculum is carefully structured to scaffold complex topics in supported stages. Refund Policy: Full refund before the class begins. Once the course starts, we can't provide refunds, but if your student misses a session (or sessions), we can try to coordinate a make-up in another section (if available). Please message us to request make-up sessions.

A Beginner's Guide to Aeronautics
A Beginner's Guide to Aeronautics
  • Grades 3-7
  • In this 12-session course meeting once a week, we'll dive into learning about aeronautics, motion physics, airplane design, rocketry and aerodynamics! Have you ever wondered how airplanes fly? Airplanes, gliders and helicopters all stay midair due to the principles of the flight science called aeronautics. These include the physics concepts of Newton's laws of motion, aerodynamics, the motion of air, and Bernoulli's principle of lift.

During the course, a variety of activities will bring aeronautical concepts to life, including interactive computer physics simulations, educational presentations, discussions and visualizations. Printable Homework Review Handouts will be provided after each class to summarize and reinforce learning.

Teacher Expertise: This course is taught by Quantum Physics for Kids instructor Prof. Mark Baraket (M.S. Astrophysics UC Berkeley), an experienced aeronautics educator.

Parent Review: "An excellent introduction to Aeronautics. The teacher is very professional and knowledgeable . Always welcoming questions. Love the fact that he was a NASA researcher and can give insight to that world. My son loved it! Definitely looking forward to more."

Atom Secrets & The Periodic Table of Elements
Atom Secrets & The Periodic Table of Elements
  • Grades 2-6
  • This 4-session course offers a fun and engaging introduction to the fields of Chemistry and Quantum Physics! The Atom Secrets course explores atoms, subatomic particles and the Periodic Table of Elements, over four 50-minute sessions meeting once a week. The course introduces students to 54 atomic elements, while exploring advanced concepts such as electron orbitals, covalent and ionic molecular bonds, and the structural organization of the Periodic Table. The course materials include 54 full-color cartoon Atom Flash Cards, emailed to students as printable PDFs, designed by Pixar animation artist Glenn Kim (whose film credits include The Incredibles, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc). A full-color illustrated Periodic Table of Elements is also provided. In addition, Review Handouts are provided for each class session. These printable resources are included with course registration.

Quantum Frontiers: Dark Matter, Dark Energy, Antimatter and the Standard Model of Particle Physics
Quantum Frontiers: Dark Matter, Dark Energy, Antimatter and the Standard Model of Particle Physics
  • Grades 2-6
  • Explore exciting frontiers of quantum physics theory and research, including dark matter, dark energy, antimatter and the Standard Model of Particle Physics! This 4-session course introduces learners to intriguing concepts in quantum physics that represent some of the most cutting-edge areas of current scientific research. In addition, this course moves beyond the 3 most commonly-known subatomic particles (protons, neutrons and electrons) to discuss the 16 subatomic particles in the Standard Model (including quarks, leptons and bosons), which forms the theoretical framework used by modern physicists. Printable Review Handouts will be provided for each class session.

Parent Review: "My son LOVED this class!! I honestly got a ton out of it too! Every day he’d excitedly tell me all about the neat things he learned. His teacher was fabulous too!! Very well prepared and great at connecting with kids."
