MISSION TO MARS in VR
MISSION TO MARS in VR
Univirtual Academy

Mars has captured human imagination for centuries and has served as a setting for many science fiction novels. Scientists have looked to Mars as an unique resource, holding clues to the origin of the solar system as well as the potential for future colonization. Numerous autonomous satellites and rovers have been sent to the red planet. With each successful mission we learn more about our most accessible celestial neighbor. Whether you dream of one day traveling to Mars or just want to learn more about our celestial neighbor, this course is for you. Did you know Mars is home to the largest volcano in the solar system? Or that it has a gigantic canyon 10 times wider and deeper than Earth’s Grand Canyon? We will deep dive into Mars’ surface geography and unique tectonics, look at its ice caps, and talk about whether water was present on Mars before. We will learn about current explorations of Mars and how we may prepare for human travel there.

GENETICS CLASS IN VR
GENETICS CLASS IN VR
Univirtual Academy

All abroad for a fun virtual reality adventure! You're invited to explore VR's fascinating game-based quest and learn genetics! Created by Stanford PhD, Marcos Rojas, this genetics class is a great opportunity to explore the structure and function of DNA, the basic principles of heredity, and genetic mutations. Students will explore how living things use genetic information to transmit traits from generation to generation, how mutations can change genes and produce new traits, and how genotypic and phenotypic traits are passed down. Other topics include the history of genetics, the implications of genetic engineering and biotechnology, and the power of using genetics to answer questions about ancestry and health. Virtual hands-on activities will also be incorporated into the lesson plan, such as constructing models of DNA molecules or designing a mock family tree to illustrate the basics of heredity. Through this kind of engaging teaching, students will gain a better understanding of the science behind genetics and its implications in their lives.

Mission to Mars / Titan Book Writing Course: Request Times
Mission to Mars / Titan Book Writing Course: Request Times
Bruce Callow

This fun and challenging creative writing course invites young space pioneers / authors to assemble an international team of astronauts and write the story of the first human landing on Mars or Titan. Steady technological progress by NASA, SpaceX and others is giving the international space community growing confidence about a human landing on Mars in the not so distant future. Titan is an attractive objective after Mars. Using a 10 chapter guide, students use their technical, artistic and imaginative skills to create the story of the first crewed mission to Mars or Titan, and in the process become authors of an exciting new new e-book! Enrollment is limited to one or two authors per session. The book is developed over eight weekly classes with some work being done by the authors on their own. Authors provide illustrations and graphics to accompany the chapters as well as designing the book cover. Being a published author is an important confidence builder and can be an important detail to include in a resume. Some families have the books printed to use as special family gifts or to display on the coffee table. Class schedules are set up at the convenience of parents. PHYSICS & SPACE EXPLORATION IN VR
PHYSICS & SPACE EXPLORATION IN VR
Univirtual Academy

In this course, students will learn some basic laws of physics, for example, Newton's laws of motion, and will learn to apply them in real-life and imaginary situation in space exploration. Newton's laws of motion are the foundation of classical mechanics, one of the main branches of physics. Mechanics is the study of how objects move or do not move when forces act upon them. You will apply what you learn in physics to space exploration challenges and will try to solve problems that NASA scientists had to tackle. Let your imagination & creativity soar and transform yourself into a real space exploration entrepreneur and inventor as you work on your interactive 3D presentations with your team.

AI Art With Python and Google Colab (Part 1)
AI Art With Python and Google Colab (Part 1)
Marcelo Antunes

You can choose anytime you want by making a request. This AI Art course for beginners is a fun way to start exploring some very exciting emergent technologies. We'll be diving into AI Art, Jupyter Notebooks (Colab), Python, Github, and more, all while creating and sharing never before seen images. You don't need any experience with any of these things though if you do have some it will help you gain a deeper understanding. Each student will be given a colab notebook each class. These are theirs to keep and experiment and even share with their friends. Topics covered include prompt engineering, using different specialized models, connecting to Google drive, wildcard modifiers, Lexica.art [http://Lexica.art], outpainting and inpainting. And there is more in Part 2! Colab and GPU access is free (within reason). The only requirement is a regular unrestricted gmail account (not student).
