Questions About The Kids Game Building Club By Create & Learn

What is a game building coding club?

A coding club is a live online 55-minute session led by an expert teacher. That means students can join from around the world! The club helps kids apply knowledge they've already learned about Scratch, to create a new Scratch project together. The teacher will guide the class through coding concepts and the step to bring the project to life. Students can ask questions along the way.

What's the difference between classes and a game building club?

The difference between classes and a coding club is that in classes you learn new knowledge. In coding club sessions you apply that knowledge. While a class is a series of sessions that each build on each other, Intermediate Game Building sessions are all different and not interrelated - as one project is started and finished each week. Intermediate Game Building meets once a week for up to 12 weeks. You can join at anytime, but once a project has been done, it won't be done again. So sign up soon!

What do you do in a game building coding club?

In a coding club you create fun new projects, such a clicker games and riddle games, once each week. Your instructor will introduce the new project in class, and guide you step-by-step through making it. You can ask questions anytime.

Why do you want to join a coding club?

Kids want to join a coding club to tackle new challenges and use their coding skills in new ways! It's a fun way to be creative each week, while ensuring skills aren't forgotten.

How does the coding club work?

Once you sign up, you'll receive a Zoom link by email to join the class. At the day and time of the class, just click the link to join, from a computer (not Chromebook or iPad). Click to accept the audio recording, so that we can be sure to follow up should your student have any questions. Then, follow along with the instructor as they introduce the day's project and guide you through it! Use the mute and unmute option on Zoom to ask questions, or use the chat feature.

When should I join the Intermediate Game Building?

It's best to join our Intermediate Game Building Club after completing through Unit 2 of our live online Scratch Ninja class. Intermediate Game Building stays at the same level of skill as the end of Scratch Ninja 2. In the club students get to practice applying their skills and better develop their understanding of key principles, before later continuing on with Scratch Ninja 3. The added experience of the club is particularly helpful and highly recommended for younger students such as those in Grades 3 and Grades 4.
