In this free Python coding class, students will take their first dive into coding with Python. We will transition from block coding, which they learned in Scratch, to text-based coding. Students will learn how to animate and draw with Python, and will build their own story project to create a cool animation. Free Intro to Python Coding

We introduce the basics of Roblox coding while building fun games in this first part. Most students will probably not have interacted with complex coding environments such as Roblox Studio before, which has two big aspects to it: building and scripting. We will learn workspace, objects, and how to configure properties of objects such as color and texture. We will also start learning Lua, the text-based scripting language used in Roblox. This is often the first text-based coding for many kids. Students will learn how to code with Lua, and apply conditional, loops, and variable concepts.

In this first part of our Python coding course, we start to learn core concepts of Python syntax, loops, data types, variables, and a lot more. We will build a smooth transition for kids to up-level from block coding such as Scratch, to Python's text-based coding. Students will learn fundamental Python skills as they build creative stories, animations, and games. Basic topics will include using Python syntax, variables, loops, functions, and built-in data structures.

In this first part we introduce the basics of Roblox coding through building fun games! Most students have not interacted with complex coding environments such as Roblox Studio before, so we will ensure they are setup for success by teaching foundational skills. This includes how to use workspace and how to configure properties of objects such as color and texture to implement in games. We will start learning important coding concepts such as if/then, loop, and variable in the context of Roblox coding, as well as how to have game elements respond to interactions from players such as clicks, movements, and more!

The learning and fun continue with part 3 of this Roblox coding class. We will move one big notch up to build two more fun games. You will learn how to create a little economy in your game by collecting goodies off a conveyor belt, earning coins, and exchanging for droppers and treasures. We will also learn how to build multiplayer games where players interact with in-game characters with some simple intelligence. We will cover advanced coding concepts such as tables, and fairly complex use of variables and functions.

AI Explorers - Introduction (free event)

Join this fun free intro class to get a taste of what creating Roblox games is like, and start learning Roblox coding! This class is designed for students who have not had any prior experience with Roblox Studio, the official tool for building Roblox games. We help students install and activate Roblox Studio, and go through a step-by-step tutorial to build an interactive Obby game with different shapes, colors, and materials!Due to the popularity of this free class, there might be more than five students per intro class. Please note that the full course has a cap at five students maximum to ensure ample attention is provided to each student. We require parents stay with their child for students younger than 10 to help navigate Roblox Studio in this intro class, as the tool is complex to use for young students initially.
